STUDY OVERVIEW
As a parent, we understand that your child's well-being is your top priority, so we are presenting you with an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on adolescent brain development. Our project aims to understand how the brain activity of teenagers relates to their thoughts and emotions, particularly during social situations.

We are looking for approximately 250 families to participate in this study, and we would love to have you and your child join us. If you are eligible and decide to enroll, you would participate in two different types of visit: virtual interview/questionnaires sessions, and in-person brain/behavior sessions.
Interview/Questionnaires
Sessions
You and your child will complete questionnaires and talk to one of our assessors about your thoughts and feelings.
These sessions will take place remotely via Zoom and will last approximately 3 hours.
Brain/Behavior
Sessions
Your child will play a game on the computer and interact with another person their age over Zoom while we measure their brain activity through EEG (electroencephalography).

These sessions will take place in person at our lab in FIU and will last approximately 3 hours.
TIMELINE
The study includes three assessment time-points over 18 months: baseline, 9-month follow-up, and 18-month follow-up. At each time-point, participants will complete one virtual interview/questionnaires session and one in-person brain/behavior session. Therefore, your involvement in the project would take approximately 18 hours over the course of a year and a half.

We understand that your time is valuable, which is why we are offering compensation of up to $660 for each family who completes all six sessions. You will receive $100 after each session, plus an additional $20 for traveling expenses for the in-person visits.

By participating in this study, you and your child will have the opportunity to contribute to a greater understanding of adolescent brain development, and help inform interventions that can promote healthy development for teenagers.
